SATC does not belong in the suburbs.

If you've ever wanted to see what the entire collections of Pink by Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Hollister would look like in one room, you should have come to the midnight showing of Sex and the City with us last night. My best friend, his girlfriend, and I all wore our fashiony best. I even mused before the movie that there might be local newspaper coverage, as the movie would probably cause quite a spectacle. I really expected people to make an effort. I wore my craziest heels. And then I sat next to these:

I know. And you would have sworn they were giving away sorority sweatshirts in the parking lot.

Other than the audience, the movie was great. Just what I had hoped for. In related news, I'll be ordering these, asap:

So, just get used to The Kills.

I have been searching high and low all over this godforsaken internet for a picture of the jeans Alison Mosshart was wearing before the Kills played when I saw them in Philadelphia. They were hanging out, eating dinner before the show (ahem, with Kate Moss), and she wore these amazing, bleach-stained, bell-bottomed jeans. Lacking originality, most of my clothing purchases are made in the hopes of emulating my stylish icons, so I've been hunting for the perfect jeans to bleach-spatter..I just needed a reference pic. Found!

I can't explain the rest of the outfit, but check out them jeans! So cool.

Slouchy beanies

Inspired by Erin Wasson, Alexander Wang, Burberry, Lulu of Everybody is Ugly, and myriad other sources..

..I'll be knitting several slouchy beanies for myself to wear in the fall. Here's a grey organic cotton one in progress.

My New Glasses

Photobucket

Since I saw the Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton documentary, I've been looking for a pair of clear plastic frames like his. While I've thus far avoided the Wayfarer trend, I couldn't help jumping on the bandwagon when I saw these for $10 on fredflare.com. I bought two pairs: one for use as actual sunglasses, the other to pop the tinted lenses out of to replace with my glasses prescription and channel Marc Jacobs. It helps to work for eye doctors with an attached optical shop!
Pics to follow after they ship and alterations are complete.

Black Tie-Dye

I love Rachel Bilson. I love most things she wears. Most recently, it's these old-school-Mary-Kate light wash ripped flares and that t-shirt! Tomorrow after work, I'm stopping at Target for men's v-neck Fruit of the Loom tees and a box of Rit dye. Project!

Slacker

For total lack of recent blog inspiration, I'm going to post two boring Polyvore assemblages. I'm working on some actual decent posts, I've just been crazy busy and tired with work lately. Anyway, the first outfit is a testament to my newfound love of lagarconne.com (I seriously want one of evvverything they have), and the second an ode to Alexander Wang. Hope you like.

My Never-Ending Kills Fixation

This is the black-and-white poncho thing Alison was wearing when I walked past her smoking a cigarette after the gig last Saturday. Safe to say, I'm officially obsessed.

Lovely day

A little thrifting this morning after coffee with bff, rather successful. Haven't found a purse I liked in ages. This one is perrrfect.

Tuesday

Brief mall trip with bff in a fit of boredom. Bought into the colored denim thing, simply because they were less than $20 (and was subconsciously having an Alison Mosshart fashion fantasy..no, I still haven't fully recovered from the events of Saturday night).

Also, spotted a cute chair at Lord & Taylor (very exciting, in our town).

Like a dream come true.

I saw the Kills at a bar called Johnny Brenda's last night. You might know that Jamie Hince, one half of the band, is dating Kate Moss. Well, she was there. She was like eight feet away from me when I walked in. I nearly passed out on the spot. I managed to not make an ass out of myself, but that unfortunately required trying not to gawk, and definitely not taking a picture of her (though I wanted to sooo badly). I did take several pics and videos of the band while they played. They were so awesome. I want to be Alison Mosshart when I grow up. She's amazing.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

(Pardon the sound quality, my little cheapie digital camera is not designed for this type of thing. Also, I can't figure out how to make the videos play vertically instead of horizontally.)

As I walked from the bar to my car after the show, I walked past Alison smoking a cigarette in a black-and-white woven Mexican poncho. Just as I was walking by their (massive) bus, Kate burst out the door and yelled "Alisoooon!" in her adorable British accent. You cannot even fathom how tiny and beautiful she is in person. I'm still in shock.

Horrid!

horrid delia's flipflops

For the last few summers (um..like 8 of them?) I have worn almost exclusively Old Navy flip flops. You know, the 2 for $5 ones, in like 85 different colors? Just like every completely unimaginative, boring suburban girl in my town. Enough. I made a pact with myself a few weeks ago: no rubber flip flops this summer. NONE. I will wear actual sandals that require just a few more seconds to put on, and heels as often as possible. I am not fourteen, I will dress accordingly.
