One of the best days ever.

Two weeks ago I hopped on a train to New York and hung out in the freezing cold for hours outside Pier 94, photographing arrivals at the Alexander Wang show. [God bless my wonderful boyfriend for keeping me company, despite not knowing most of the people I was freaking out about seeing. I hope warm, amazing, deep-fried dinner at Cafeteria afterwards made up for some of it.] Here's how my afternoon went:

You know these two. Scott Schuman and Garance Dore. Had a mild panic attack/fangirl episode upon first sighting, but I mustered the balls to approach them/gush about my love of their work/ask for a photo. Garance was so sweet and obliging.

Garance at work.

Harley Viera-Newton.

Henry Holland, arriving with Pixie Geldof. That's Alice Dellal's blonde hair/blue backpack in the foreground.

Tonne Goodman.'s Candy Pratts Price. I screamed her name like a rabid paparrazo. She probably doesn't get that often!

Cathy Horyn brushed past me and I nearly passed out. Too bad she was on the phone and I couldn't say "Ohmygodyou'remyfuckingidol!!"

Susie Bubble!

After dinner we made a pilgrimage to the Alexander McQueen store on 14th Street to pay respects. A touching mess of flowers, candles, and champagne bottles. Many of the flowers bore stickers reading "Fashion is dead. RIP McQueen." Well said.

EDIT: For a few more pics and a smidgen of opinion, see my latest article at BSC Review.

My jaw just hit the keyboard.

Remember my 'postapocalyptic' rant? This is what Mila Kunis should have worn* in Book of Eli. Good god..

*Yes, I realize this is a $74,000 Balmain jacket.

"Those poor goddamn Rodartes!"

Best quote from a movie ever, EVER. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise or throw some Goonies shit at you. And if you don't know where I pulled that quote from, then there's a dvd you need to purchase on Feb. 23rd.
Anyway, poor Rodarte shmoor Rodarte. Those Mulleavy girls are BRILLIANT. Who else in the world can combine color/texture/pattern like this?

And in related news, I'd kill to be a fly on the wall during their meetings with Nicholas Kirkwood each season. Their collaborations just get better and better..

Hello, handsome..

Sigh. I have such a crush on Marc Jacobs. Not just his clothes and accessories. The man himself. Too bad his boyfriend is prettier than me..

ps. Fall 2010 collection? I. Die. Love it. Every piece. So beautiful.

Catch 22.

Something about weeks and weeks of 3-foot snow, thick slabs of ice, and constant slush makes me crave cutout, open-toe, suede wedge booties. I am the epitome of impracticality.

booties, $90.

A reminder, here it is.

Yes, BryanBoy, you're right. My fur-collared trench is hanging, neglected, on the clothing rack in my living room. I'll wear it tomorrow.

I. Adore. Tavi.

I'm STILL trying to get through her whole Style Rookie archive (it's taken me two weeks already, and I'm halfway through), and my fascination (obsession?) grows every day. This is the most interesting, inspiring 13 year-old girl I've ever seen. Found this video on awesome.

Unexpected inspiration.

Reading too much (in a good way) of Tavi's blog, Style Rookie, was the motivational push I've needed for MONTHS to finally embrace (and purchase) oxford flats. And maybe a faux-vintage nerd-esque purse, too. That girl is THE SHIT! I can only hope to someday have children with an OUNCE of her creativity. I've finally regained enough self-confidence and fashion-balls to push my style comfort zone, due in large part to excessive exposure to Kelly Cutrone (I'm a sucker for a Bravo reality show AND simultaneously-released self-help/girl power book..ahh, the power of marketing). Helena Christensen said it best in a recent issue of British Elle (I think..): "Style is a strange thing. Who determines who has style? I think you've gotta have a fuck-everybody attitude about it." Amen, sistahh.
